Design thinking is a problem-solving approach that helps create human-centred solutions in the public sector. It starts with understanding people’s needs and continues with rapidly testing ideas and creating simple prototypes.
Led by the Innovation Team, several design-thinking-based programmes have been developed to explore innovative solutions to public sector challenges.

Innovation Programme

The Public Sector Innovation Programme is an approximately eight-month, design-thinking-based programme for developing public services. It consists of 12 training days, extensive fieldwork, dozens of discussions and the testing of solutions. The programme brings together cross-organisational teams made up of representatives from different institutions who are working on the same service or addressing the same problem. Since 2019, the Innovation Team has delivered four Innovation Programmes involving a total of 26 projects.
